Chiropractic
Thank you for choosing our office to serve your natural health care needs. We offer state of the art Chiropractic care. Dr. Lawver has been practicing chiropractic since 1981 and was also a chiropractic collage instructor for several years. Chiropractic is a natural health care system that adjusts spinal joints of the spine as well as other joints of the body such as knee’s, shoulders, ankles and others. There are many different chiropractic methods of treatment and Dr. Lawver uses at least 8 different techniques in order to find the most effective one for each specific patient. We also use physiotherapy modalities of ultrasound, electrical stimulation and hydro massage tables. Our office manager Frances can always answer any questions about chiropractic insurance coverage.
Massage, Acupressure and Hot Stone Therapy
Frances Lawver C.M.T. who is the Office Manager of this clinic is also a licensed massage therapist who practices out of this office by appointment only. She uses a combination of massage, acupressure techniques and also uses hot stone therapy to help the muscles of the body and to improve health by decreasing stress and pain. Please feel free to ask her any questions. We have found that the combination of chiropractic and massage therapy can do wonders to help your body deal with many different conditions. Massage therapy is usually not covered by insurance.
K-Laser
We also offer laser therapy which can help many musculoskeletal problems. Some professional sports teams such as the Cincinnati Bengals N.F.L. football team use the K-laser to treat their injured players. Please feel free to ask questions about laser therapy or check www.klasers.com for more information. Laser therapy is usually not covered by insurance but if very reasonable.
Your Specific Condition
Dr. Lawver will recommend a specific treatment plan for your condition. This will be different for everyone. There are 3 goals in chiropractic treatment.
1) Pain relief. The first goal is to get the patient feeling better ASAP so they can start enjoying the things in life they have been missing out on.
2) Correction of the problem. The spine is made up of many complex joints that are surrounding our spinal cord and nerves. These problems can take some time to be corrected. An analogy is an orthodontist using braces to straighten teeth. It takes time. The spine is much more complex than the jaw.
3) Wellness care. We are all used to taking our cars to the mechanic for oil changes and other preventive maintenance to prevent future problems. The same as going to the dentist for teeth cleanings and check ups. An occasional chiropractic adjustment can help maintain your health and help prevent future problems. We all need to think about our future so that when we retire our body will allow us to do the things we enjoy and have made plans and goals for.
Exercise and Home Care
There are simple and easy to do neck and back exercises that can really help your condition and we prescribe these every day. Other home care methods include using ice and or moist heat. It is also important to not do activities that aggravate your pain. A good bed and pillow is also important. We are always happy to discuss these. In addition to the specific exercises that we recommend, a regular exercise program of at least 20-30 minutes per day to very beneficial to your health.
Proper Nutrition
It is important to eat healthy foods and to avoid excessive processed feeds that may contain too much salt, fats and sugars. If you are too heavy, that can cause back and joint problems in addition to the known other health problems such as heart disease and Diabetes. We are happy to offer weight loss advice. We are also happy to recommend vitamins. Many foods do not contain enough vitamins and minerals. We recommend Vitamin D, Vitamin B, Glucosamine, omega-3 fish oils and co-Q-10.
